# QUTRIT Usage Guide

## 1. QUTRIT Core Concept
QUTRIT is a desktop application that enables multi-AI chat between User (the human seeking solutions), Google Gemini, OpenAI ChatGPT, and Anthropic Claude.
By involving three AIs with different design philosophies in a discussion, it supports multifaceted, high-quality decision-making and idea generation.

### QUTRIT employs "Heterogeneous Debate"
QUTRIT uses a third-generation architecture that puts different intelligences Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude into a single chat room.

- **Single Model**
  Chat with one AI. Fast, but often limited by a single perspective and prone to blind spots.
- **Homogeneous Agents**
  Multiple instances of the same model. It improves output, but they still share the same biases and hallucinations.
- **Heterogeneous Debate (QUTRIT)**
  Different models challenge each other and refine ideas, eliminating biases and hallucinations. Significantly improves output.

Recent research increasingly points to the value of heterogeneous, multi-agent. QUTRIT follows that direction.

While execution AI apps help you produce faster, QUTRIT provides "Brains" to help you make better decisions.

## 2. Key Features & What It Can Do
- **Read Internal Documents (Local Folder Sharing)**
  Simply add a folder on User's PC to QUTRIT, and the AI will understand the contents of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, etc., to generate answers. For PDFs, it can even read visual information like graphs and images.
  - QUTRIT's access is strictly read-only for safety.
- **Cloud Tool Integration**
  Connect with Notion or Atlassian (Confluence/Jira) to let the AI reference the latest internal information.

- **Secure Local Storage (Local-First)**
  All chat history, settings, and shared file information are stored locally on User's PC. It is designed securely to prevent confidential information from leaking externally.
- **Auto-Discussion**
  "Discussion mode" enables Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude start debating with a single click. The discussion deepens as each AI evaluates the other AIs’ responses and refines ideas.
- **Compare Independent Opinions**
  "Independent mode" sends User's prompt to Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude simultaneously with a single click, making them to answer independently. Unlike "Discussion mode" the AIs don't talk to each other, making this useful when User wants completely independent opinions.
- **Whiteboard**
  User can get an AI to summarize a long or complex chat into an editable whiteboard. The whiteboard helps User, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude share the same understanding of the current assumptions, decisions, open issues, and action items. User can also download a whiteboard as a PDF file, it can be used as meeting minutes.
- **Remote Access**
  User can securely access QUTRIT Desktop from their smartphone while their PC is online. Continue where they left off or start a new chat wherever they are. Chat data is encrypted over the transmission using end-to-end encryption (E2EE). All chat history, settings, shared file information and API keys remain stored locally on User's PC, they will not be stored on their smartphone or the relay server.
- **Roles**
  User can create and assign a "role" to each AI - For example, ChatGPT as "Project Manager", Gemini as "Legal Counsel" and Claude as "engineer". This ensures diverse perspectives in the conversations. User can also deliberately assign the same role to all the three AIs, to deep-dive one specific area.
- **Personalization**
  User can personalize AI's response style and output rules, such as:
  - "Make it concise."
  - "Provide a summary with bullet points at the beginning."
- **Web Search and URL Reading**
  When User wants to look up the latest information or summarize a specific web page, the AI can automatically search the web or read the contents of a specified URL.

## 3. Modes and Plans
QUTRIT offers two modes. For detailed plan features and pricing, user can visit the official website. For payment, QUTRIT uses Stripe.
- **Self-Serve Mode**
  A mode where User uses their own API keys obtained from Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic. User can chat with the AIs without token limit, but User will need to pay the API usage fees directly to each AI provider. (User's API keys are encrypted and stored securely in the OS standard credential store: Windows Credential Manager / macOS Keychain).
  - Self-Serve Free: No payment to QUTRIT. Only fast, lightweight models are available.
  - Pro Plan: A paid monthly subscription plan with unlimited access to all features.
- **Managed Mode**
  A mode that requires no API keys and is ready to use immediately for a monthly fee. The number of times and duration User can chat with the AI varies depending on the plan (Token limit).
  - Managed Free: No payment to QUTRIT. Only fast, lightweight models are available.
  - Standard Plan: A paid monthly subscription plan. Allows access to advanced thinking models and longer chat times compared to the free trial.
  - Plus Plan: A paid monthly subscription plan. An upgrade from Standard, allowing even longer chat times.

## 4. Tips
- **Share Internal Wiki with AI**
  User can connect Notion, Confluence or Jira with QUTRIT. AI can provide context-aware support by reading internal wiki, team documents etc.. It is a good practice for User to explicitly tell AI "Read this wiki on our Notion".
- **File sharing cloud services**
  QUTRIT currently does not support file sharing services like Google Drive or Dropbox. However, user can use desktop-sync and then share those local files with QUTRIT. This way, AI knowledge is always up to date.

## 5. Specific Operation Guide (How to Use)

### Basic Screen Layout
- **Settings Screen**: Click the "Gear icon" in the bottom left corner to open various settings.
- **Account & Plan Management**: Click the "Circular avatar icon" in the top right corner to check or change User's current plan.
- **Side Menu**: Click the Hamburger menu icon in the top left corner to open the side menu.
- **History Search**: Search past chat histories from the search box at the top of the side menu.

### How to use the Whiteboard?
1. After a chat becomes long enough, click the Whiteboard icon near the "Let Them Debate" button below the chat input.
2. AI will summarize the conversation into a whiteboard.
3. The whiteboard appears as a right-side panel. User can freely edit it and click Save.
4. Once saved or generated, the whiteboard is shared with the AIs as context, so they can continue the discussion with the same understanding.

### How to share PC folders with AI?
1. Click the "Gear icon" in the bottom left to open Settings.
2. Select the "Expand AI Knowledge" tab at the top.
3. Click the "Add Folder" button in the "Share Folders on Your PC" section and select the folder User choose to share with AI.
4. The AI can now search and reference information within the folder.

### How to connect Cloud Tools (Notion / Atlassian)?
1. Click the "Gear icon" in the bottom left to open Settings.
2. Select the "Expand AI Knowledge" tab at the top.
3. Click the green "Connect Notion" or "Connect Atlassian" button in the "Connect External Tools" section and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection.
4. The AI can now search and reference information within Notion or Atlassion (Confluence, Jira).

### How to use Remote Access?
1. Click the "Gear icon" in the bottom left to open Settings.
2. Select the "Remote Access" tab at the top.
3. Check "Enable Remote Access" checkbox to enable the feature. User can disable the feature by unchecking it anytime.
4. Only the smartphones that are paired, can remote access the paired PC. Click "Start Pairing" and read the QR code on the phone.
5. Navigate to https://qutrit.space/remote/ on the paired phone, to remote access the paired PC. The PC must be active and not in sleep, and desktop version of QUTRIT must be up and running. 
6. User can revoke paired devices anytime. Simply click "Revoke" on "Paired Devices" list.

### How to register Roles?
1. Click the "Gear icon" in the bottom left to open Settings.
2. Select the "Managae Roles" tab at the top.
3. Enter the "Role Title" (e.g., Legal Counsel) and "Role Details" (e.g., Review conversations from a legal perspective, and call out concerns.), then click "Save" in the bottom right (Up to 5 can be registered).

### How to manage API Keys (for Self-Serve Mode)?
1. Click the "Gear icon" in the bottom left to open Settings.
2. Select the "Model Settings" tab at the top.
3. Enter the "API Keys" here, when using Self-Managed mode.

### How to check Plans or Upgrade (Change Modes)?
1. Click the circular avatar icon in the top right corner.
2. Click "View Plans" from the menu.
3. The mode selection screen will appear. User can choose between "Self-Serve Mode" using own API key or "Managed Mode" requiring no API key.
4. Once the user select a mode, the plan selection screen will appear on which User can select a plan. Selecting a paid plan will open Stripe screen for the user to make the payment.
5. **Recovering Limits (Quick Refill)**: If User reaches the token limit while using Managed Mode (either Standard plan or Plus plan), User can purchase "Quick Refill ($3.99)" from the chat screen to instantly recover the limit and continue chatting.

### How to change Display Theme or Language?
1. Click the "Gear icon" in the bottom left to open Settings.
2. Select the "Accessibility" tab at the top.
3. User can change the "Theme" (System/Light/Dark) and "Language" (日本語/English). User can also toggle "Send with Ctrl+Enter" on/off here.

### About the name "QUTRIT"
The name QUTRIT is inspired by a "qutrit" (quantum trit), a unit of quantum information that exists as a superposition of three orthogonal quantum states.

QUTRIT is currently available for Windows and macOS.
- Windows 10/11 supported
- Apple Silicon models supported
  - M series such as M1, M2 ... M5
  - And A18 Pro, etc.
  - Intel Macs are not supported.
- Smartphone versions are not available.

### Supported files (Attachments in chat)
- Office files (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) - Text extraction only
